eSnips goes live!

I'm very glad to update that eSnips has gone live. (Its a company in Gemini's portfolio, and actually one of the first investments I was involved with)

Its great to see the massive progress the team has made in a very short time frame - both on the technology / product side, and on the business / Marketing side.

On the product side, they now have a platform which could become a significant content sharing community. You can now search and share anything that is of interest to you. This weekend I posted some of my sunset photos from the Tel Aviv beach here - It seems that over the last days a lot of interesting stuff has been posted...  Its worth playing around the site.

On the marketing side eSnips has managed to get great exposure within the Internet scene in the valley, and within the blogsphere. One such example is a post this week on Michael Arrington's TechCrunch  here. In his post, he writes:

"The core idea is to allow users to upload media files of any type - photos, videos, office documents, whatever - tag them, and either keep them private, share with other or make them public. But eSnips is also allowing bookmarking of web content, from a whole page to a line or paragraph. Others can comment on each piece of media or content as well, and rate a user created page. Given the social aspects of the service, eSnips is really a content-centric social network".

Its interesting to see the impact of this and other PR activities on the growth in the hit rate - Below is a screen shot from Alexa

did you see http://pytagor.com !!

Thanks for the link! You are right, there are a lot of players in the space of online storage / sharing.
eSnips takes a different approach however - It is a social content-sharing site - where people can publish and share anything they want, in order to create interactions with like minded people, according to their interest. The best way to understand it is to see it in action. Here are some cool things people share - http://www.esnips.com/web/daviartgallery and http://www.esnips.com/web/JWesleyArtsBusinessFiles
