Metacafe - Will be acquired?! Israeli success! - Or is it?

Rumors are that MetaCafe is going to be acquired for $200-$300M... The buyer might be Yahoo...

So this is another great Israeli Success!

Or is it?...

When I think of the exit size (For Israeli internet) -  I think Wow...

But when I compare MetaCafe to where it could have been (YouTube)... Well, then I feel a bit disappointed:

...especially given the significant head start MetaCafe (founded in 2003) had over YouTube!

Its a good reminder that being  #1 (Vs. #2) makes a huge difference... and that its definitely not all about being first to market / having first mover advantage / great technology / many other beliefs that entrepreneurs have...

Thats true...and really makes you wonder what does make you number 1??? I guess there really are no rules
